Mayor Stephanie Killam
District of Mackenzie

Mayor Stephanie Killam has lived in Mackenzie since 1972.

Stephanie has recently retired as senior secretary at Mackenzie Secondary School, a position she held since 1979.

Stephanie is committed to the community and the region, promoting initiatives which improve economic, health and educational opportunities. She is well-versed in environmental issues and the balance that is required between those concerns and the economic development of the community's future.

The depth of her involvement in the community is exemplified by the many committees of which she has been a member. Politically, she was a municipal councillor for nine years, in November 2005 was elected the mayor of Mackenzie and re-elected as Mayor in November 2008.

Stephanie is currently serving in the community in various capacities: the Mackenzie Co-operative Association Board, Autumn Lodge Society (seniors housing), Museum Society, Chamber of Commerce, Mackenzie Counselling Board, and District Labour Committee. In the past Stephanie has served as a CUPE shop steward, high school grad sponsor, member of the Club 55 executive (seniors social activities), and a member of the Municipal Emergency Program committee.

In the health community, she has been a committee member or official of the Mackenzie & Area Health Advisory Committee, the Mackenzie Secondary School Occupational Health and Safety, Mackenzie & District Hospital Board, Community Health Council, Northern Interior Regional Health Board & Steering Committee, Children's & Women's Health Center, Vancouver/Richmond Health Board, Riverview Hospital Board, Provincial HIV/AIDS Advisory Council, and the Provincial Health Policy Advisory Committee.

In addition to local community involvement, Stephanie currently serves on the Muskwa-Kechika Advisory Board, the North Central Municipal Association as the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George representative, as a Director on the Omineca Beetle Action Coalition, Resources North Association chair, the secretary of the Northern Medical Trust Program and chair of the Prince George Regional Advisory Committee as part of the Northern Development Initiative Trust Network. Stephanie was recently appointed to the Municipal Insurance Association Board and elected to the ND Trust Board.
