Mayor Frederick Clarke has lived in Granisle since 2005 and was elected Mayor in 2008. He represents the Village of Granisle on the Bulkley-Nechako Regional District Board. Frederick has an extensive background in business including auto sales, food sales, wood panel processing, and coin machine vending business, music, games and food products. He also operated a winter freighting service supplying remote communities with their annual supplies over land and lakes with cats and sleighs, and worked as a commercial pilot for Manitoba Government Air Service and others. Frederick also has wide experience in the hospitality industry. He and his wife Sonia owned a 50 bed full service fly-in fishing lodge in northern Manitoba replete with an airport, and later operated a 200 seat dining room and 60 seat restaurant. Frederick was also the General Manager for the NWT Travel Industry Association. Frederick has also worked as an economic development consultant, working with small communities, farm districts, First Nations and Metis Organizations.
