Title: Air Traffic and Airport Improvement Strategy
Date: March 2011
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Phase One built on existing work done by the Federal and Provincial Governments and local airport authorities. It took into account community and regional plans and priorities for economic diversification. Existing airports (excluding Prince George and Smithers), were assessed for their real potential to support economic growth and diversification. Limiting conditions and upgrade opportunities for physical infrastructure and services were compiled.

Title: Small Airport Improvement
Date: November 2009
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project will build on existing work done by the Federal and Provincial
Governments and local airport authorities. It will take into account
community and regional plans and priorities for economic diversification.
Existing airports (excluding Prince George and Smithers), will be assessed
for their real potential to support economic growth and diversification.
Limiting conditions and upgrade opportunities for physical infrastructure
and services will be analyzed and reported along with recommended
priorities.

Title: Smithers Regional Airport Water System Expansion Project
Date: Spring 2011
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:A new 500,000 liter water cistern was constructed in May and June 2011. This cistern will increase firefighting capacity of the existing water system and allow for further development of the airport lands. Without the higher quantity and quality of water provided by the new cistern, it was difficult to attract new business to the airport.
